Much of the discourse on Hinduism in the west tends to be biased. It is equated with Hindutva, which, in turn, is equated with right-wing Hinduism.
An NRI prof, Vamsee Juluri, has attempted to right this discourse in a recent book which is intended partly as a riposte to Wendy Doniger, whose own book on Hinduism came to be banned in India.

Thanks for the post.
Yes, any alternative history needs to be read with a pinch of salt; however, the Banning books...Is Indian government following the footsteps of Tali-Ban......
Regarding NRI Prof(s), Mr. Subramanian Swamy, I understand was/is also an NRI Prof , who attempted to malign an esteemed Technology Institute up-north (am not that keen on Politics: however, learnt about Swamy's antics at IIT Delhi from Sandipan Deb's book on Rajat Gupta: The Fallen Angel).
